Ans. The aim of structured analysis is to transform the textual description of a problem into a graphic model. During structured analysis, functional decomposition of the system takes place, i.e. each function that the system performs is analyzed and hierarchically decomposed into more detailed functions. On the other hand, during structured design all functions identified during structured analysis are mapped to a module structure. This module structures is also called software architecture for the given problem and it can be directly implemented using a conventional programming language. The purpose of structured analysis is to capture the detailed structure of the system as perceived by the user, whereas the purpose of structured design is to define the structure of the solution that is suitable for implementation in some programming language.
