Explain the purpose of shielding and reflector in a nuclear reactor.

1 Answer

Answer :

1. Shielding:-  The function of sheilding is to protect environment, humens and animals from the harmful radioactive radiation (pollution).before they are emitted to atmosphere. Shilding is provided to absorb alpha (α), Beta (β) particals and gymma (γ) rays which are produced during nuclear chain reactions.

2. Reflector:- The function of reflector is to reflect back the neutrons which are leaving from core.
