Answer :

Safety is the main concern as we mostly use our bare hands for bulb change

Answer :

Live wire is responsible for carrying power while neutral completes the path and takes current to ground.

Answer :

The neutral line must remain unbroken so a path back to ground is maintained.

Answer :

Current runs from the transformer, through the protective device, through the load and back through the protective device (if on RCD).

If the protective device is only a CB the current passes through the load, back to a common neutral, back through the main neutral to the transformer.

The neutral can be switched and the circuit will operate correctly but this is an unsafe practice and does not meet the standards.
