Ceiling plinth is used to decorate the angle between the wall and the ceiling. This decorative element is also called fillet. Installation is carried out after leveling the walls and ceiling. We will talk about how to glue the ceiling plinth in that article.
Training
You can glue the ceiling plinth:
before gluing the wallpaper, putting the fillet on the putty;
after gluing the wallpaper.
The second solution is more common. In any case, it is important that the walls are aligned as efficiently as possible.
First of all, the fillets themselves are purchased. In this case, it is necessary to accurately measure the perimeter of the room, and then buy the material with some margin. It is recommended to choose products from reputable manufacturers that will not lose their appearance in a few months after installation and will look fresh for many years to come. You also need to choose the optimal width of the product.
The process starts from the corners. The corners themselves are:
internal, that is, protruding inward, is in every room;
as well as external, that is, protruding.
The second type of corners is not present in every room. Cutting a corner for a ceiling plinth is not so easy, and therefore it makes sense to purchase ready-made corners. And only if they are not on sale, you need to independently make corners from fillets. In this case, the following tools are used:
miter box;
hacksaw;
knife (preferably well sharpened).
The fillet blank is placed in a miter box so that the angle is 45 °, then it is pressed. After that, it is trimmed inside the miter box using a hacksaw. Sawing is carried out so that the two elements adhere exactly to each other at the edges, taking into account whether they are intended for an internal or external corner. It makes sense to do the workout before doing the real angle.
Gluing process
When both elements for the corner are ready, they are greased with glue if they are going to be put on wallpaper. After that, they are pressed against the wall as much as possible. Excess glue is then removed. The slots are filled with glue.
If the corners are mounted in front of the wallpaper, they are attached to the base with putty, which is placed with a spatula. In this case, it is also necessary to press the element to the surface, and when it is fixed, remove the excess putty. The slots are filled with putty.
When the corner is completed, a regular, non-corner bar is added to it, setting it completely in the same way. There is only one essential point: when the process approaches the next corner, you need to accurately measure the length of the elements so that they fit together without gaps.
After completing the process, the ceiling plinth is painted, usually in the color of the ceiling.
