How to Clean an LCD Screen

Apple LCD Screens
Tools
Clean, soft and lint-free cloth
Mild, non-alcoholic detergent
Spray bottle
Apple stores typically offer the mild, non-alcoholic detergent in their stores. You can buy a bottle to have something at hand to clean your Apple LCD screen with.
Procedure
Turn off the LCD screen completely. Unplug it from the electricity socket.
Spray the detergent into the cloth, not directly on the screen.
Gently wipe the cloth on the screen. If you’re dealing with particularly stubborn stains or dirt, don’t rub the LCD screen too hard. Pressing the screen may cause the pixels to burn out. Simply pass over the cloth over the stains until they are gradually removed.
Once you’re done, use the dry side of your cloth to wipe it gently over the LCD screen to help it dry. Leave the LCD screen to dry up thoroughly for several minutes, and you can use it again as you usually do.
PC LCD Screens
If you’re looking for an alternative and eco-friendly way of cleaning your PC screen, here’s one you can use. Read on for more.
Tools
Clean, soft and lint-free cloth
Distilled water
White vinegar
Spray bottle
Funnel
White vinegar can be substituted with isoprpyl alcohol instead. Isopropyl alchol is the only type of alcohol that can be used, as other types can prove harmful and abrasive for your PC LCD screens.
It’s also important to note that you should use distilled water, and not ordinary tap water or mineral water. Any other kind of distilled water may also prove harmful and abrasive for your LCD screens.
Procedure
Mix out a 50/50 measurement of distilled water and vinegar. Mix the two thoroughly. Pour the mixture into the spray bottle using a funnel.
Turn off the LCD screen and make sure it’s unplugged.
Spray the water and vinegar mixture directly on the cloth first, never on the LCD screen.
Wipe the damp cloth all over the LCD from top to bottom, passing repeatedly over the more stubborn stains. Again, don’t rub in too hard on your LCD screen, or else you may end up damaging your screen.
Let the screen air dry completely before plugging the LCD screen and turning it back on. You may then use your LCD screen as you usually do.
What Not to Do
There are a lot of false notions going around about cleaning your LCD screen. Here are some things you should avoid to avoid damaging your LCD screen.
Don’t use any paper-based product like paper towels or tissue paper. These will leave abrasions on your LCD screen.
Don’t use ethyl alcohol, acetone, ethyl acid, toluene, methyl chloride or ammonia to clean your LCD screen. These will react with the materials that make up your LCD screen and may leave it looking cloudy or yellowish.
Aside from keeping yourself from touching the screen, regular cleaning of your LCD screen will keep it doing its job well.
