Processor design is the design engineering task of creating a processor , a component of computer hardware. It is a sub-field of computer engineering (design , development and implementation) and electronics engineering (fabrication). In the design process an instruction set and a specific execution pedigree is selected (e.g. VLIW or RISC) and the result in a microarrhythmic , which can be described as VHDL or Verilog . For microprocessor design , this description is then assigned to a number of different semiconductor device fabrication processes , resulting in a dye bonded to a chip carrier. This chip carrier is inserted into a socket in a printed circuit board (PCB). The list of operation mode instructions for any processor is executed. Instructions typically include those that use registers to calculate or manipulate data values , change or restore values in read / write memory, conduct tests related to data values, and control program flow.
