Imam Bukhari was inspired to write this book by his teacher Ishaq bin Rahwaih. One day Isaac hoped for a book that would contain only authentic hadith. Among the students, Imam Bukhari then embarked on this difficult task. In 216 AH, at the age of only 23, he started compiling this book in the Haram Sharif of Makkah. After a long 18 years, the work of its compilation was completed in the year 233 AH. During the compilation of Bukhari Sharif, he always fasted and before inserting each book of hadith, he would take a bath and perform two rak'ats of nafl prayers to ensure the purity of the hadith through murakaba and meditation. [11] He did not compile all the sahih hadiths in this book. Rather , he has recorded in the Sahih Hadith those which have been raised to the conditions prescribed by him. He himself said , " I did not mention any other hadith in the book except Sahih Hadith in Ja'me. However , I have omitted many Sahih Hadiths for fear of growing in size." According to another narration , Imam Bukhari wrote the titles of his book in the middle of Rasool Karim's Rawza and Nawabi in the mosque. The full name is "Al-Jami Al-Sahih Al-Musnad Min Umuri Rasoolillah Wa Sunanihi Wa Ayamihi". Place of compilation of Bukhari Sharif: According to the narration of Abul Fazl Muhammad bin Taher , Imam Bukhari finished his work sitting in Bukhara. According to some, in Basra, but all the narrations mentioned are correct, because he has stayed in all the mentioned cities. Imam Bukhari himself said , I have stayed in Basra with my Sahih Bukhari for 5 years Let's finish the work of preparing the tab. And I perform Hajj every year and return to Basra from Mecca. He prepared this famous book after 16 years of relentless pursuit by selecting verification from 6 lakh hadiths.
