Considering the ethical aspects of human production through cloning, the United Nations raised a bill in the General Assembly on 12 December 2001. There, 64 countries voted in favor of banning human clone research , 34 against and 36 abstained. Thus the law prohibiting cloning was passed. Human cloning was banned in Australia in December 2006.
