Last Answer : At the moment eSATA (external SATA) which has a target transfer speed of 3Gbps. In the future (sometime) USB 3.0. It’s target transfer speed of 5Gbps is even faster than eSATA. Given that USB has always more prevalent than firewire I don’t think it would survive for long after USB 3 turns up.
