If you keep playing and play regularly, you’ll stop doing that. Practice makes perfect. When I first started and for the first few years even, I never thought I would ever look away from my hands (especially with the harder songs). This was a problem as I sing too. BUT, if you stick with it, you kind of just “learn” how to do it.

Last Answer : Because we don’t do staring matches if we talk/meet with people. We look them in the eyes, for a second, then we look at their shoes, then at the door, then the eyes again, etc. It gets a bit weird if you keep staring, I feel.
