To prevent high blood pressure, you must increase the level of potassium in your diet. Potassium rich foods such as lemons , oranges , bananas , tomatoes , coconut water should be eaten. You can eat green leafy vegetables , low fat foods like buttermilk , fat free yogurt , ice cream and low saturated fat foods like murdi . Keep sodium intake in food at 2.4 grams per day. You can't eat too much salt in high blood pressure. Cholesterol rich foods like cream , meat , egg yolks , butter , french fries should be avoided completely. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Blood pressure is controlled by not eating salted butter and chips. Drip fried foods , junk food should be avoided altogether. - Lemon helps in lowering blood pressure level. It is better to wake up in the morning and eat a lemon juice mixed with equal amount of water. You can also mix lemon juice in food. Foods that are high in potassium and calcium help lower blood pressure. Potassium rich foods like prunes , mangoes , green lentils , sweet potatoes , spinach , eggplants control blood pressure by maintaining salt and fluid balance in the body. -If the body is deficient in calcium then the risk of hypertension increases. In addition to raw salt, other foods contain sufficient amounts of sodium. Some powders , sodium bicarbonate etc. are used to enhance the taste of food. Readymade pickles , breads , biscuits , various sauces , soups , salted nuts , popcorn foods contain sodium. It is better to avoid oil , ghee , spices. Alcohol , tea , coffee should be consumed in small quantities. This will keep the blood pressure under control. Never eat fatty foods.
