From my daughter: A slide is generally when the other team has the ball and you usually slide when the person with the ball is entering the attack area and going to the goal to shoot. The defender will “slide” and try to push the attacker away from the goal so they won’t shoot. Another time you slide is when the other team gets a breakaway and therefore the middies are behind so the defense has to take over and “slide” to either slow down the person down.
