This may not answer your question, but I draw comics and I still use papers. Same goes with my other, recent, more serious artworks. But I go through 3 steps: pencil draft, inking, digital editing. I can’t draw things on the computer from scratch, and I can’t do effects like shading on paper. So the paper and the computer complement each other. Also, my comic involves a narration, which I write on a notebook I carry around for adding to the computer editing later. I find this method incredibly helpful. The notebook acts as a rough draft. It creates a “this isn’t the final form” feel. I can write whatever pop in my head, then later when I type everything on my computer I can see errors and rooms for improvement. Maybe you can do the same with your stories.
