The type of Herpes treatment you may need depends on the type of Herpes you have. Genital Herpes requires a prescription to be treated, and is not currently curable. Oral Herpes (also known as cold sores) can be treated with over the counter products such as Abreva, and is also contagious; but outbreaks are less frequent over time.
