Apple's newest tablet, the iPad 2 64GB device, is capable of handling up to 1.65 gigaflops -- billions of mathematical operations -- every second, which makes it ten times faster than its predecessor, as well as any supercomputer prior to 1994. To provide comparison, today's fastest computers handle 2.5 petaflops a second, equivalent to 2.5 quadrillion operations. As of 2011, China is the home of the world's fastest computer, known as the Tianhe-1A supercomputer.
