The region remains one of the largest Jewish communitiesand areas to study the Torah in Eastern Europe.Shortly after the fall of the Soviet Empire, the KGBheadquarters was reopened as the Museum of Genocide. Many torturesand executions took place in the basement of this building,including Jews in the Holocaust days and later, wealthy residentsof which the KGB had suspicion. To keep the original integrity, themuseum features a glass floor, under which real remnants of tortureremain, as well as a nearby water-torture room.Compliments of a communist empire, the remaining electric busesare a convenient and fun way to travel the city and see thehistoric Gates of Da
