Hellenistic means 'like Greek'.Alexander the great thought that Greek culture was the greatest,and established over 70 Greek style cities across the PersianEmpire to introduce it (modestly calling half of them Alexandriaafter himself). His successors continued with it, however it didnot permeate beyond the upper classes, and the conquered peoplesmostly continued their own practices.
