What are ambident nucleophiles?

1 Answer

Answer :

Nucleophiles which can attack through two different sites arecalled ambident nucleophiles. For example, cyanide ion is aresonance hybrid for its structure. It can attack either throughcarbon to form cyanides or through N to form isocyanides orcarbylamines.
