What is corrugated board and where is it used?
Among the building materials that have a wide field of application, the professional sheet (corrugated board) is perhaps the most versatile, since it can be used in various areas of construction and repair. Before you buy a professional sheet , you need what it is and for what purposes it is used. Distinguish between roofing, wall and universal corrugated board.
What is corrugated boardProfiled sheet or, as it is also called, corrugated board is a building material belonging to the group of roofing. Thanks to the use of galvanized steel for its production, the profiled sheet has a rather long service life, which compares favorably with many other materials. A more durable and expensive option is a galvanized sheet with a polymer coating. The strength and reliability of the material also depends on the thickness of the sheet, which can vary from 0.4 to 1.0 mm, and on the shape of its profile, which is formed by corrugation based on cold rolled products.
The versatility of this material allows it to be used in the construction of objects and their repair. Among the advantages are low weight, ease of transportation, environmental friendliness. The professional sheet is fire-resistant and does not require special costs during installation. The high aesthetic characteristics of the building material ensure the decorative appearance of the building.
According to GOSTs, several types of professional sheet are produced. The differences between them, in addition to the thickness of the metal used, are in the height and shape of the ridge, which can be round, rectangular and trapezoidal. As a rule, the width of the sheet ranges from 800-1200 mm, and the length can reach 12 meters.
A sheet that does not have a polymer protective coating can be painted after installation, but it is more economical to buy a corrugated board with a polyester coating. It does not corrode and has a significantly longer service life.
The scope of this material is not limited to residential buildings. It is also suitable for utility, industrial buildings, as well as for the construction of barriers, fences and gates. For the construction of parking lots, hangars and other non-residential buildings from this material, there is a certain work technology. First, the frame of the structure is mounted, which is then sheathed with wall profiled sheet. This is followed by a layer of insulation and again a profile sheet. This technology makes it possible to build non-residential buildings relatively quickly and at minimal cost.
