Is Female foeticide totally eradicated from India?

1 Answer

Answer :

In 1994, India has passed a Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Act to put a stop to finding out the sex of the baby in the womb so to avoid any attempts at abortions in the community. Female foeticide is still currently illegal in the country. Nevertheless, many people especially further down the caste system still opt for abortions or killing the infant child if it is a girl. They believe a girl child is useless to them and will not bring in money or assistance to help the family out. India is trying its best to put a permanent halt to this horrific procedure, yet it is difficult to catch every single person doing it at once since it largely kept a secret.
