How to Tell if You Have a Cavity
A pretty smile brightens your face. Taking care of your teeth will make your smile even prettier. Treat your teeth at the first sign of a cavity. Here are some warning signs to look out for.
How Do You Get Cavity?
Cavity happens when bacteria get into your teeth, damaging either or both the enamel and dentin. These 2 layers protect your teeth.
Signs that You have a Cavity:
Toothache. Aches are the most common sign of a dental problem. Visit your dentist when it occurs frequently. (More tips on how to get rid of a toothache)

Sensitive tooth. A sensitive tooth may also be a sign of cavity. You’ll feel pain every time you eat or drink something hot or cold. Try using a toothpaste made for sensitive teeth. If this doesn’t work, it’s time to make that appointment.
Bad Breath. The accumulation of bacteria in your tooth will cause bad breath. Food may be trapped in the hole of your affected tooth. When the trapped food breaks down, it’ll also cause bad breath. Brush your teeth regularly and use a mouthwash. These won’t solve the problem though, they’ll only mask the foul odor. If the smell doesn’t go away with frequent brushing and mouthwash, you might need to visit your dentist.
A Hole in your tooth. Bacteria weakens the protective layers of your tooth and creates a hole in it. If you already have a hole in your tooth, stop the condition from getting worse by having the hole filled by your dentist.
Bad taste. Like bad breath, this is caused by bacteria and the trapped food in your tooth.
Dark spots. Who says you only get dark spots on your skin? Tooth discoloration may mean tooth cavity. If your cavity is already serious, you’ll see dark spots on your tooth.
Pus. This is the worst symptom of a cavity. A pus may mean that the tooth is already infected. Along with pus, you may also experience pain, fever and inflammation on the affected area.
Avoid cavities by taking care of your teeth properly. It’s also important to visit your dentist regularly. Keep your teeth healthy and you’ll be wearing that pretty smile for a long time.
