How to Stretch Shoes
Having a pair of new shoes is pretty exciting, since most new pairs bear a vibrant gleam. The problem is, they don’t always seem to fit right after purchasing. Either the pair is too tight or too stiff to provide comfort to your feet. They gradually adjust to your feet’s contours, however, waiting for it to do so takes time. You can stretch your shoes beforehand, so your feet are pampered, despite walking for hours.
Stretching Solution
A stretching solution is formulated to soften shoes, especially leather. New leather shoes are notoriously tough on your feet, causing callouses if used for long hours. By spraying the chemical on the shoes’ interior and exterior, the surfaces soften, making the shoes adjust to your feet in the process. Its the easiest way to stretch shoes, however, its effects are rather limited on thick foot wear. You can purchase a stretching solution at footwear stores and at the mall.
The Shoe Stretcher
stretch shoesThe shoe stretcher takes over when a stretching solution fails to do the job. It is a sturdy adjustable device fit inside a shoe. Once fitted, you can turn the screws on the device until forces the shoe to take on your desired shape. Leave the setup as is for a few hours. Your shoe, by then, have conformed to the shape forced by the shoe stretcher. Finding a shoe stretcher is a little tricky, since not many people use them. Check out thrift garage sales and thrift stores, if you can’t find one at the mall.
The Bag of Ice Method
For the toughest shoes, you may need to use extreme measures, extremely cold temperatures in particular. Insert a couple of ice bags filled with water inside your shoes. Place the pair in the freezer and leave them there for hours. The water will eventually turn into ice, pushing the shoes’ surfaces outward. The cold temperature makes the pair contract, which forcs them to follow the ice’s contours. This method is effective, however, reserve it only for thick shoes and boots. It may damage a regular leather pair.
Walk Fast
Walking fast with a tough pair may be uncomfortable, but it will stretch your shoes quickly. The trick is to wear fairly thick socks to pad your feet for the ordeal. Walk faster than usual, as you go through your daily routines. Before the day ends, your shoes will be more comfortable to wear. If it doesn’t work, just repeat the same process the following day. Your shoes will eventually yield.
Make Your Feet Happy
The feet are the most abused parts of the human body. Wearing a couple of stretched shoes provide much comfort through your daily toils. It’s only fitting that you stretch your new shoes upon purchasing. In the end, you’ll have a less stressful day and a pair of happy feet.
