Goiter is a disease caused by malnutrition. Goiter in the conventional sense refers to the swelling of any part of the thyroid gland. Some special types of goiter are called goiter in medicine , meaning not all goiter is goiter. Thyroid can be caused by various causes including tumors , cancer , inflammation , not goiter. Again , goiter does not cause a specific rage in the corners of the thyroid gland , but rather a general manifestation of different rage of the thyroid. Goiter can be due to various reasons. Lack of iodine in the diet is one of the causes of goiter. This problem is more prevalent in North Bengal and hilly areas far from the sea due to low iodine content.
