A lacquer is a type of substance that is applied to a food container to keep a distance between the food and the metal in the container so that they do not come close to each other. Its a special kind of organic material. Oil-based lacquer contains natural fossils , gum , drying oils , white spirits and some natural resins. This lacquer is widely used in preserving fruits and vegetables. Synthetic lacquers can be phenolic , epoxy or vinyl resins.
