In many of his short stories, Rabindranath has portrayed female characters more than male characters. For example, female characters like "Haimanti" in the story "Haimanti" , "Nirupama" of Dena-Pawna , Mrinmayi at the end of "Surabali" in one night , Kalyani in the unknown , Mohini in the laboratory etc. have become the main characters in all these stories. In all these short stories, various aspects of our society including superstition , women's rights , women's rebellion have been presented.
