The Original Jurisdiction extends to those cases which High Court has authority to hear and decide in the first instance. (i) The cases regarding wills, divorce, marriage Admiralty, Company Law and Contempt of Court can be taken up by the High Court directly. (ii) The cases involving the violation of Fundamental Rights and other rights can be directly initiated in the High Courts. The High Court has the power to issue various Writs for the enforcement of these rights. (iii) The Constitutional cases could be taken up under the Original Jurisdiction of the High Court. Every High Court has the power to interpret the Constitution. This is known as the power of Judicial Review.
