The main oilseeds grown in India are groundnuts, coconut, sesamum, castor, soyabean, linseed and sunflower.  Importance of groundnuts:  (i) Are edible and used as cooking medium. (ii) Used as raw material in production of soap, cosmetics and ointment.  (iii) India-largest producer.  Groundnut: (i) Kharif crop  (ii) Accounts half of the total oilseed production.  (iii) States: Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, etc.
