1. In the Saigon Native Girls School, Vietnam, a Vietnamese girl sitting in one of the front seats was asked to move to the back of the class and allow a French student to occupy the front bench. 2. Consequently, she refused to go towards the back of the school and the Principal of the school, also a colon (French people in the colonies) expelled her. This incident led to major protests by Vietnamese students of that school who were also expelled. 3. As the students were expelled, open protests began to spread on a larger scale and seeing the situation get out of control, the government forced the school to take the students back.
