The density and quality of roads are better in plains compared to high altitudes, rainy and forested areas because: (i) Nature of terrain and the level of economic development are the main determinants of density of roads. (ii) Construction of roads is easy and cheaper in the plain areas. In the same way, their maintenance is not only easy but low cost matter also. (iii) Whereas it is difficult and costly in hilly and plateau areas. (iv) Construction and maintenance in forested and rainy areas are very expensive due to many reasons.
