Last Answer : I wouldn’t suggest doing this. See the port is there to allow the speaker to move freely. Plugging that port would make the speaker act as a plunger so to speak and cause stress due to the compression of the air. If you do this, don’t expect your speakers to last very long.

Last Answer : The main differences are: P-Bass has slightly wider neck, Jazz slightly narrower. P-Bass has one pickup, Jazz has two. The pickups sound different, but I'm not a bass aficionado. My dad, who died a couple of years ago, was a bass fisherman and he kept a little notebook that listed what he caught, under what conditions and what ... always decided what lure I should be using that particular time.
