We were supposed to do that for everything, and I did, but I resented the idea that a heartfelt spoken thank you , with a bit of a ... didn't want stuff from her grandmother, she wanted conversations and time spent. Last Answer : A phone call is best. In business and family life, I learned long ago that some questions which spur endless typing back and forth can be resolved easily with a 2 minute phone call. Last Answer : I always wave people in front of me if they have a small handful of items. I hate grocery shopping so tend to do it by the giant cartload very occasionally. I wouldn’t want to be in line behind me.

Last Answer : Unfortunately, I believe we are becoming more and more self-serving putting our own wants and needs above that of community or others.

Last Answer : Do you mean does the driver move to another lane in order to turn the car? Yes, they usually move over to the left, then turn left (if they are turning left).

Last Answer : I’ve lost count. I drive the freeways of southern California every day, so a lot.

Last Answer : Anything that takes you away from the social gathering I would consider rude. You don’t go taking phone calls while she is there so what is the difference here.

Last Answer : I was addressed by every woman I spoke to today as “Sir”. I am coincidentally asking a female friend if I come off as too formal just as I read this question.

Last Answer : I wold take the “call and cancel” over really late and wondering. I’d pick “call and converse” if that was a possible option.

Last Answer : Yes, I do add a subject. Unless a no-subject email is sent from my husband, I refuse to open them, as I am suspect of spam.

Last Answer : 10am, 9pm.

Last Answer : I would tell them first come, first served, and put it out on the lawn for them to pick up at their convenience.

Last Answer : I give unsolicited advice all the attention due.

Last Answer : I think if she has a good reason and it’s your first date, then you should pay. Even if it’s your first few dates, you still should pay. Things come up, things happen.

Description : Just how private is a break room conversation?

Last Answer : Not very private. A lot of company secrets do get picked up by competitors. But this also happens on trains or airplanes. Even at the neighboring table in hotels when people are having breakfast. Some folks are really quite careless.

Last Answer : In my experience, it’s a three way tie between Idaho, Wyoming, and Alaska.

Description : Do you answer your phone without checking caller ID?

Last Answer : It depends if there is someone I really don’t feel like talking to at the time. I also check for odd numbers as that usually means that it is a telemarketer.

Last Answer : I did reserve training for ten months before I went active duty. We stood inspection first thing both days of drill each weekend. Do you know how to holler and get red in the face? I knew several chiefs ... is not a trip to the mall people, this is the military and you damn well better act like it.

Last Answer : Hopefully, I am still a few dozen years from getting to that point, but I think I will be receptive to that kind of help. The elderly today need some help with things like Email (helping the elderly ... continued driving, and I plan to be fierce about that. And keep off my lawn, you damn kids!

Last Answer : Being a bit of a wiseass myself, I would probably say something like, “Wow! And here I thought all along that this was the EXPRESS checkout line!” ; )

Last Answer : Absolutely… with a wave. And I appreciate it when someone waves to me.

Description : Is it polite to answer, "Yes sir/No sir" or "Yes ma'am/No Ma'am" to someone well under your age level?

Last Answer : It’s easy: politeness is always welcome. If it’s a stranger, and they either naturally elicited a “yes ma’am” from you out of respect, or because it’s your habit to say Yes, sir – then all the better. They’ll say: “Call me Jim”, don’t worry. More people should “have that problem”, imho. :-)

Last Answer : You honk your horn and yell profanities like a good citizen and wait for the train to move.

Last Answer : No, I try not to do that. I think it’s cruel. How would you feel if someone did that to you?

Description : Drivers: When you arrive at a 4-way stop intersection at the same instant as other cars, do you follow the rules of right-of-way, or do you play first-come-first-go?

Last Answer : If you go by the first-come-first-go rule that would assume that you didn’t all arrive at the exact same moment, yes? Kidding, I know what you mean. I usually give the other person the right-of-way unless it was evident that I got there first.
