Last Answer : It will knit up somewhat larger, because the large yarn will sort of expand. But it will also knit up a lot tighter, and probably not have the same sort of drape and hang that the pattern writer intended. You could always make a little swatch to measure and see… ;)

Last Answer : It depends entirely on how tall this particular 5 year old is. Probably between ⅓ to ½ his hight. Call up his parents and ask for current hight, and then add a few inches to make room for a growth spurt. 58 inches is probably a good length.

Either the dyer will tell you a reason why it's late (and you can decide what to do from there - i.e., ... , the same thing applies. We can't tell you if the order will happen. Only the dyer can tell you that.

Last Answer : Gauge was invented for a reason. I always do one and knit three sizes down. If the instructions call for a #6 needle, I use a #3. Try doing the ribbing on a size or two smaller if you are too ... 3 sample, which takes maybe 2 minutes. It's not being stubborn; it's wasting your time and materials.
