Here’s what you need to do. 1) Be sure the rifle is unloaded, and open the action, just to be safe. 2) Stick a 7.62×54R round nose down into the muzzle (the business end of the gun). 3) If the bullet fits snugly, your rifling should be fine. If it kindof slips in with no friction, your rifle has either been counterbored, or the rifling is worn out. You can also open the action and remove the bolt (and for the love of god, be sure the rifle is unloaded) and put a piece of white paper over the bolt face and shine a light on it.
