answer:They sell two versions here. A AT&T (GSM) one and the Verizon one (CDMA). You want the GMS one since that is what they use in Europe. As long as you get the GSM one you should be fine. edit :: I should add that the iPhone 4S has a dual band chip in it. I would bet a hundred bucks that the iPad 3 will have one too.
