Back to the cute blouses, though. The rest of your outfit has to be up to standard, because a blouse doesn’t always say “professional” the way a button down does. That means nice, structured slacks or skirts that fit you properly. Once you do that, it gives you a lot of leeway to wear flowy, drape-y blouses. Something like this might seem casual on its own, but if you tuck it into a crisp skirt you’ve got an outfit. I also own something very much like this. With a camisole under it, it’s basically seasonless and goes with everything. It also helps if you look for sturdy, high-quality clothes. If I had $20 to spend on a top for work, I would shop the end of season closeouts at a place like Ann Taylor or Nordstrom, rather than buy something at the regular price from Old Navy or Target.
