I have owned an Officejet 8860 for years. I also have been long involved wth printer engineering. There are many 3rd party ink sources and substitutes out there that may work with moderate success. I however recommend using the Original manufacturer’s recommended ink even at the higher cost. And in some cases it is considerably higher that 3rd party prices. The head design is specific to compounds in the medium used to place the image on the page. 3rd party inks, toners, etc can gun up print heads, fusing stations, etc. and also void the warranty. Stick with what the product was designed to use.
