Transitioning Onto A New Diet?

1 Answer

Answer :

Starting a new diet is not always the simplest of endeavors, as a matter of fact it can actually be a stressful transition if you do not prepare for it properly preparing for your diet can take a lot of your mental resources, and some of your time. On the bright side you do not have to spend money to get ready, and in this economy that is good news for everyone. So, how do you get ready to go on your new diet and find a way to make this time be the one that sticks? Well, all we have to do is to abide by some simple principles that will set you in good stead for your dieting future.Principal One: Get rid of any and all food that you will not be able to eat once you are on your diet.I'm serious about this one. Unless, of course, you live with someone else who pays for the grocery bill, you should get rid of those bad for you items. How are you going to do that?Throw a "last night of debauchery" party for all of your friends to clean out the fridge.Donate canned or boxed off limit items to the local food bank or your local homeless shelter. That way the less fortunate can benefit from your diet.Bake goodies and bring them to work or school. These are only a few of your choices. If you want to get rid of it in a more creative way then go ahead as long as it is out of the house before you begin. Just get it out of the way and you will be putting yourself at a serious advantage.Principal Two: Plan for good foods that you can have on your new diet. The bottom line is that if you feel deprived on your new diet you will cheat. Maybe not today, maybe not on day 10, but eventually you will. The best and simplest way to make sure that you do not feel deprived is to have foods that you enjoy on hand that you can enjoy on your diet. This one is simple. Begin by making a list of all of your favorite foods. Now circle all of the ones you can have on your diet, and find ways to put them into your meals and as snacks.I'm not going to lie to you and tell you that you will never want for a bar of chocolate, but you will feel good most of the time when you do this. My list looks something like this:Chocolate of all kindsAsian PearsPeasButtercreamApple CrumbBaked ZitiNow obviously most chocolate had to go and the pears were basically a freebie. Others, like the ziti, could be modified to work, so don't discount that option. There you have it. If you just do those two things you will find that getting on your diet is much easier, as is staying on it.
