The simplest type of shower area is one that is not enclosed. It requires less material, particularly metal door frames or plastic doors, enclosures or curtains. Instead the area has a tiled floor and a three-sided tiled surround. The open side often has a threshold of three to six inches, but if the floor is properly installed, the water will go to the drain and not run into other areas of the floor. This style of shower eliminates the needs for doors, or a curtain and rod. It's easy to clean and maintain.
