Highly skilled, well-trained blacksmiths were held in the highestesteem during Colonial times. Hundreds of blacksmiths supplied andrepaired tools, equipment, household goods and weapons made ofiron. Their craftsmanship aided a growing population and laid thefoundation for commerce and expansion in a new country.
