Just look: The linden tree became an official national symbol only in June 1848 (June 2-12, 48), when it was at the All-Slavic Congress in Prague (delegates from Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia, Slovakia, as well as Poles, Ruthenians, Croats , Serbs, Slovenes and Dalmatians - all the enslaved Slavic nations), when it was established as a national symbol and thus became a symbol directed against the Great German efforts to enslave the Slavic element. Linden as a national tree was to be designed by Fr. Ladislav Čelakovský. It was actually a reaction to the Frankfurt Assembly (a parliamentary assembly of German representatives sitting in Frankfurt am Main since April 1848), where an oak tree was chosen as a symbol of the Grand Duchy.
