Can a wet carpet be vacuumed?

Will I not harm the vacuum cleaner if I suck a carpet that is cleaned and still wet? I have a classic el. vacuum cleaner. I want to dry it that way

Answer :

Highly not recommended - as soon as you get water in the engine, it will burn out ... Ordinary vacuum cleaners are not designed for vacuuming water. If the carpet doesn't dry out on your own, rent a carpet cleaning machine - it can vacuum water.
