Windows 7 machine requirements

I know it's weird for many, but I still have windows xp on my old machine, which for some reason prints an error on startup and restarts. I was told to reinstall it, but once we do, I want to put windows 7 on it. What is the machine requirement for windows 7?

Answer :

The weak point of these old machines is mainly memory, even when looking at the hardware requirements of operating systems. If there is only 512mb of memory in the machine, be sure to keep xp on it. You can already go with win7 with 1 gb of ram, but windows 7 really feels good with 2 gb of memory. The proci copes with it, even if it's just a core. Ram is the point.

Last Answer : The RC and the Beta both require a clean install. Only Vista can be upgraded. Here’s a chart (albeit a confusing one) that shows the upgrade paths. It doesn’t include the beta and RC, but I’ve read from various sources that a clean install is required.
