Protein in the urine is at best indicative of some kind of inflammation. I say that at best because this is relatively easy to treat with antibiotics. In a worse case, more protein appears in our urine than it needs due to kidney failure. Protein in the urine during pregnancy in pregnant women may indicate the development of preeclampsia, which can be very dangerous and should be investigated immediately. If this disease is present, edema and high blood pressure are also symptoms.
