Garbage problems plague almost every major city worldwide. Many governments have applied measures to combat this problem. They have opened more landfills and dump sites, but for some reason, garbage keeps piling up like a never-ending cycle. Garbage has contributed to the rampant spread of various forms of pollution. At the rate it is going, trash might soon take over the planet. Something has to be done about this garbage problem and that something is called recycling.
Recycling is the process of reusing old products and turning them into new materials. It comes as the most logical solution to the garbage problem since it practically stops the increase of garbage. Disposable items such as paper, plastic, and metal are turned into other items or structures through recycling. After tossing these disposable items in recycle bins, they are brought to a facility that properly segregates and recycles each type of item.
It may come as a surprise, but the garbage problem currently worsens even though the recycling solution has been established because not everyone recycles. Most people toss their trash in their wastebaskets, which in turn, is taken by garbage men to an overstuffed dump site. What some people do not know is that the garbage man also has a direct connection to recycling facilities. If the trash given to a garbage man is properly segregated, he will hand it over to a recycling facility.
The best way to segregate your trash is to turn your regular trash cans into recycling bins. To tell you the truth, the only difference between a normal trash can and a recycling bin is that a recycling bin has more labels. You can actually turn any of your trash cans into recycle bins in a short amount of time with very minimal effort.
Materials Used:
3 trash cans
3 sheets of bond paper
marker
masking tape
To create a simple recycling bin, you should line-up three trash cans side by side. Get three sheets of bond paper and label them as biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and wet items (biodegradable), respectively. Now, you should stick each paper to a corresponding trash can using masking tape to finish your set of recycling bins.
If you find the use of paper too tacky, you can paint the labels in front of the trash cans instead. You could also mark each can with the international symbol for recycling if you are the obsessive-compulsive type.
The globe is getting more and more polluted as each day passes. Soon, the planet will become virtually uninhabitable. We can help stop this from happening if we all segregate our garbage in recycling bins.
