Nucleic acid (DNA) was discovered in 189 by the Swiss scientist Friedrich Mischer. He named it Nuclein. He later said that it could affect heredity. Nucleic acid (English: Nucleic acid) is the largest , most volatile , highly molecular-mass and polymer-like chemical in the cell that regulates the various biological functions of the organism. It is basically a polymer of numerous nucleotides. Each nucleotide has three components: 5-carbon sugars , a phosphate group and a nitrogenous base. This nucleic acid is the most important biological molecule in combination with proteins. They are found in large numbers in every living thing. Here they do important work like encoding , transmitting etc. The first scientist, Friedrich Mischer, discovered the nucleic acid in salmon sperm in 189. [1] Nucleic acids cover a large part of modern biological research. It is currently the foundation of genome and biotechnology and forensic sciences. [2] [3] [4]
