Tulsi (English: holy basil, or tulasī) ( scientific name: Ocimum Sanctum) is a medicinal plant. Tulsi means incomparable. Basil is a fragrant plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. [2] It is revered by the Hindu community as a sacred plant. In Brahmakaivartapurana Tulsi is called ' Sitasvarupa ' , in Skandapurana ' Laksisvarupa ', in Charkasanghita ' Vishnupriya ' , in Rikveda it is called ' Kalyani ' .
