The Hindu-German conspiracy was a conspiracy that took place between 1914 and 1917, with the aim of creating an all-India resistance and revolt against the colonial government of British India. The conspiracy involved extremist Indian nationalist revolutionary organizations , the Ghadar Party of the United States , and the India Independent Committee of Germany. The conspiracy was started at the beginning of the 1st World War. The Irish Republican Movement , the German Foreign Office , and the German Embassy in San Francisco all assisted in the conspiracy. The Turkish Ottoman Empire also helped. One of the major plots of the conspiracy was to start an all-India revolt from the Punjab area and spread it to Singapore. The revolt was planned to begin in February 1915 with the aim of ending British rule in India. This conspiracy (known as the Ghadar conspiracy) failed in February , when British intelligence strategically infiltrated the Ghadar movement and found out all the information. The main leaders of the movement were arrested. Plans for revolts by small armies and cantonments in different parts of India were also thwarted. Other plots of the Hindu-German conspiracy included the Singapore Rebellion of 1915 , the Anne Larsen Arms Plan , the Jugantar-German Conspiracy , the cycle of the German Embassy in Kabul , and the Conte Rangers Rebellion in India. According to some, the 1917 Black Tom explosion was also part of the conspiracy. In addition, as part of a Hindu-German conspiracy, plans were made to disrupt the work of British Indian troops participating in World War I in the Middle East.
