Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) is a paramilitary force in Bangladesh. The organization has been established for the purpose of moral development of students and youth and development of leadership qualities among them. It has branches in many schools , colleges and universities in Bangladesh. Students can volunteer to join BNCC of their own educational institution. The core principles of BNCC are knowledge , discipline and unity. After the establishment of Dhaka University in 1921, BNCC was formed in Dhaka University under the Corps Indian National Defense Forces Act , 1923. In November 1928, Captain E. Groom arranged for 17 teachers and 100 students to receive first aid corps military training. It was officially established in June 1926 as the University Training Corps (UTC). It was one of the 12 units of UTC . In 1942, it was transformed into a single company and entrusted with the responsibility of appointing Dr. Hasan Mahmud, a professor at Dhaka University, as an unpaid representative colonel. In 1943, its name was changed to University Officer Training Corps. The first annual camp was held in Shillong in 1947. In 1950, the company became a battalion with the promotion of 625 cadets and 40 officers. The government of Pakistan banned the activities of UOTC on January 30, 1953 , but its activities resumed in 1986 after the student protests. The Pakistan Cadet Corps (PCC) and the Junior Cadet Corps (JCC) were formed for college and school (9 and 10) students. After 1971 , its cadet corps existed , but the name ' Bangladesh Cadet Corps ' was substituted for ' Pakistan Cadet Corps ' . UOTC was recognized after 1971 , but its operations were almost closed until 1985. On 31st March 1986 , Jahangirnagar University established three infantry divisions with Chittagong University and Rajshahi University. On March 23, 1989 , President Ziaur Rahman established the BNCC by organizing the UOTC , BCC and JCC by a government order . Bangladesh National Cadet Corps
