The Baltic Fleet ( Russian: Балтийский флот, pronounced Balticskiyy Flot) is a fleet of Russian navies in the Baltic Sea. In 1918 , the fleet was inherited by the Russian SFSR from the then Soviet Union in 1922 , where it was eventually renamed the Double Red Banner Baltic Fleet as part of the Soviet Navy , during which time it won two awards, the Red Banner. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 , the Baltic Fleet was inherited by the Russian Federation and returned to its original name as part of the Russian Navy. The Baltic Fleet is headquartered in Kaliningrad and its main base is in Baltiske , both in Kaliningrad Oblast and another base is at Kronstadt in St. Petersburg in the Gulf of Finland.
