Are your hostas planted in an area where they get a lot of sun?  Hostas are shade-loving plants.  Their leaves may turn brown if they are exposed to hot sun.  This may be the reason they are turning brown.  This is not caused by a disease.  There is not much you can do except to move them to a shadier area.
